Helena Celebrates Community Philanthropy Reception & Dinner Monday November 5th

This year Big Sky Institute for the Advancement of Nonprofits (BSI) will be holding Helena’s third annual sector-wide event to celebrate the importance of community philanthropy. Planned for Monday, November 5, 2018, in conjunction with National Philanthropy Day sponsored by the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Helena Celebrates Community Philanthropy (HCCP) will recognize those who do the giving, and those who do the fundraising. HCCP is Helena’s biggest Philanthropy event of the year.

The Helena nonprofit community values all kinds of philanthropy in its many shapes and sizes, including the volunteering of time and talent for the work we do.  That said, many in this sector have developed a deep appreciation for philanthropic individuals and entities whose generosity broadly embraces the diversity of our local nonprofit community. Why is this important? Because it is the philanthropic cornerstone for inclusive community building.

HCCP activities will take place at Delta Hotels Helena Colonial (formerly the Radisson), beginning with a networking reception, followed by a dinner with formal celebration activities. The program will feature awards to recognize and celebrate philanthropic accomplishments, and honor great role models who exemplify the very best qualities of community philanthropists. We will highlight awardees in the individual donor, business and corporate, and foundation categories. This year’s awardees are:

  • Individual – Rick Pyfer, attorney/partner with Doubek, Pyfer, Fox & Storrar, nominated by David Smith, Helena Family YMCA
  • Business - Anderson ZurMuehlen & Co., P.C., nominated by Lori Ladas, Rocky Mountain Development Council
  • Foundation – Helena Area Community Foundation, nominated by Bill Crane, Montana Shares
  • The Pinnacle Award – Opportunity Bank of Montana, nominated by Mike Schechtman, Big Sky Institute for the Advancement of Nonprofits

This year's sponsors are:

  • Opportunity Bank Montana

  • Delta Hotels Helena Colonial [in-kind]
  • Helena Independent Record [in-kind]
  • Speyer Family Foundation

  • Crowley Fleck, PLLP

The reception begins at 5:30pm with a cash bar, non-alcoholic beverages, and hors d’oeuvres; the dinner and program start at 6:30pm. Attendees will be served a full course dinner and dessert.

Tickets are now on sale.  Early Bird Tickets cost $50 and   will be available until October 12, 2018.  General admission tickets will be $60 from October 13 through 29.  All tickets can be obtained through

HCCP is the signature fundraising event for BSI’s Helena programs. Sponsorships, ticket sales and other giving opportunities generate funds to help underwrite the professional training and development opportunities on fundraising skills BSI provides to Helena area nonprofits through its Helena Development Initiative (HDI). The various HDI program components and BSI’s other Helena programs benefit well over 100 Helena-based nonprofits annually.
